What is an Immunoglobin Profile?
This test measures the levels of three key antibodies (IgG, IgA, and IgM) in your blood, helping assess your immune system's function and diagnose potential problems like immunodeficiencies or autoimmune diseases.
Immunoglobin G: The most abundant type of antibody in the blood and extracellular fluid. It provides long-term immunity after an infection or vaccination and is responsible for neutralizing toxins and pathogens.
Immunoglobin A: Found mainly in mucosal areas like the respiratory and gastrointestinal tracts, as well as in bodily fluids such as saliva, tears, and breast milk. It plays a role in mucosal immunity and protects against infections in these areas.
Immunoglobin M: The first antibody produced in response to an infection. It is found in the blood and lymphatic fluid and is effective in fighting infections during the early stages.
