What’s in a blood / hormone test?
Depending on the service level you choose, you’ll see some of the following terms listed, as being part of the test. The following is a helpful guide to their definitions.
Adrenal BioMarkers
Cortisol, DHEA-s (Dehydroepiandrosterone Sulfate - produced in the adrenal glands; a building block for the sex hormones oestrogen and testosterone).
Allergies Test
Nearly 300 allergies tested for, including gcereals and seeds, egg, fish and seafood, fruit, grass pollens, insects and venoms, legumes and nuts, meat, milk, mites, moulds and yeast, other CCD, pets and animals, spices, tree pollens, vegetables and weed pollens.
Anti-Mullerian Hormone - Female (usually)
Anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) is produced in the ovarian follicles and is used to reflect ovarian reserve (the remaining number of follicles within the ovaries capable of producing an egg). The AMH blood test will indicate if your levels are normal for your age and is useful if considering fertility treatment such as egg freezing or IVF.
Blood (Full Count)
Haemoglobin (HGB), Red Cell Count (RCC), Haematocrit (HCT), Mean Corpuscular Volume (MCV), Mean Cell Haemoglobin (MCH), Mean Cell Haemoglobin Concentration (MCHC), Red Cell Distribution Width (RDW), Platelet Count (PLT), Mean Platelet Volume (MPV), White Cell Count (WCC), Neutrophils (NEUT), Lymphocytes (LYMPH), Monocytes (MONO), Eosinophils (EOSIN), Basophils (BASO).
Blood Group Identifier
ABO typing, which determines if you are Blood Type A, B, AB or O and whether you are either RhD positive (+) or RhD negative (-).
Blood Let (Phlebotomy / Venesection)
Blood letting required for a number of reasons, including removing extra red blood cells, treating blood disorders like hemochromatosis and polycythaemia, and hormone therapies like testosterone replacement therapy.
Bone Health
Adjusted calcium CCA, Calcium CA.
Cholesterol
Triglyceride, Total Cholesterol HDL Ratio, Total Cholesterol CHO, Non-HDL Cholesterol, Low Density Lipoprotein, High Density Lipoprotein, HDL percentage.
Cortisol
Testing the a steroid hormone made by your adrenal glands. Cortisol affects several aspects of your health and helps regulate your body's response to stress.
Cystatin C
Measures the level of Cystatin C in the blood. The test is used to assess kidney function and estimate the Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR), which is a measure of how well the kidneys are filtering waste products from the blood.
Diabetes
HbA1c (Glycosylated Haemoglobin) (GHB).
Dihydrotestosterone (DHT)
In males, elevated DHT levels may contribute to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), prostate cancer, and androgenic alopecia (male pattern baldness). In females, DHT levels are typically lower, and its measurement is not commonly used for diagnostic purposes. However, in certain cases, excessive DHT production in females may be associated with conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or hirsutism (excessive hair growth).

Pregnenolone
In males, low levels of Pregnenolone may indicate adrenal insufficiency, which can lead to symptoms such as fatigue, muscle weakness, and low blood pressure. In females, low levels of Pregnenolone may be associated with conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or adrenal dysfunction, which can cause irregular menstrual cycles, infertility, and excessive hair growth.
